Course Description

This course is aimed at helping Banks to build a strong foundation in their Credit Departments, and will focus on the seven fundamental areas of Credit Function.

The programme will be ideal for officers who are in their early stages of Credit Function, whether in Relationship function, or in Credit Administration function.

Those who have worked in Credit Department for a period of 1-5 years and have never been taken through formal classroom credit training will benefit most from this course.
Although some of the participants in the target group may comprise officers who are not directly involved in making Lending Decisions, it has been considered appropriate to introduce to them the Principles of Lending and Financial Analysis, in order to enable them appreciate the interface between their work and that of their colleagues who handle Lending as a Relationship function.

Programme Objective
Upon successful completion of this programme, the participant should be able to:
1. Recall and apply the criteria by which a GOOD LENDING DECISION is made
2. Recall the different sources of information, what they contain and how they may be used to assist in making a good lending decision
3. Recall the different lending products available to the various types of borrowers and be aware of the circumstances in which they are used
4. Identify the various sources of information for use in the reviewing, controlling and monitoring of problem advances.
5. Apply Best Practice Guidelines for Remedial Management of Non- Performing Advances
6. Assist an experienced Lending Official with his/her lending duties.

3. Personal Bankers,
4. Credit officers who relate as direct support to Line Managers,
5. Newly promoted Analysts
6. Clerical staff in Advances/Securities departments
7. Officers performing clerical duties in the Risk Management Division at the Head Office
8. Any other staff who handles customers’ enquiries on Credit matters.
9. Graduate Management Trainees
